Getting Closer…

I have taken the GMAT appointment on 11th of September and that date is inching closer. I spoke to Vinod (see his blog on the blogroll) who gave his GMAT today and was little disappointed with his score and said he could have done well in the essay part, nevertheless the score which he got is good enough to get him through the best of the schools and I believe he has the capability and the determination to get into the B-School of his interest.

Well, looking at the prepartion of GMAT, the following have been the developments till date:

1. GMAT endeavour started around mid May by joining 4GMAT coaching institute. Well I thought I had become rusty with my math concepts and honestly the reason for joining this institute was to understand/clear the concepts of grammar (I am very bad at it, you might have guessed it after reading this post).

2. I made regular efforts in attending the classes and tried to miss as less as possible. I had taken the early morning class from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM, alternative days to suit my work schedule and wanted my weekends to be with me so that I could spend practising at home and not giving exhaustive 4 hours at a stretch for learning concepts which ultimatley I would have forgotten by the next week. I had very well thought of and wanted a institute which offered timings according to my convenience (lucky to find one)

3. The institute offered lots of practice material and the english tutor was exceptionally good and cleared lot of my doubts and I got little confident in english

4. In my first diagnostic test I scored a pathetic 280 out of 800… no way near to what I had expected but after around 2 weeks time I got it to 420… (I know not at all impressive, but I felt little happy)

5. My pursuit to score higher in GMAT has become stronger by reading some of the debrief’s at Scoretop.com, and believe me I have found this site as a an exceptional resource for GMAT takers. I derive lot of inspiration from the people who write about their prep. for this test and have raised my levels of expectations to nothing less than 700 … SERIOUSLY NO COMPROMISE…. and I notice my self doing lot many different things to achieve my goal.

Currently with around 15 days remaining for my test, I am pretty ok with Maths (The number system is a in pain the ass and I have to get it straightened out within a day or two). I have become confident in SC… Manhattan SC Guide is GOD… For the remaining prep its all time for practice, practice and practice….

I am impressed!!

I am liking the look and feel of this blog!!! Felt like writing something and did it :) Well I have lots of things in mind .. will slowly put it here.. and the good thing is I can access this site from my office… So I can use this whenever I am getting bored…
